Leather Care

Leather’s natural durability and versatility distinguishes it as an unparallelled material: genuinely distinct & individually variant. We exclusively use top grade, 100% locally-sourced (Calgary), cow-hide leather. 

Each leather hide contains its own one-of-a-kind markings and oil content.  These unique properties, like a fingerprint, will never occur more than once in nature. It is natural to see some scarring, stretch marks and ‘imperfections’ on the surface of the leather. These markings are the hallmark of a natural material.  We never use fake or synthetic hides.

HERE IS OUR ADVICE ON HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR LEATHER GOODS: 

All MegaFinery products are hand-crafted and require special care.

In using 100% natural cowhide leather, it is expected that the leather will change over time as it absorbs natural oil from human skin in the handling/wearing/use of the leather product. The leather colour may darken and will soften with use.  Natural fraying on the edges may occur. 

Leather is malleable.  Avoid objects that may scratch the leather or compromise the interior and exterior of the product.  Leather surfaces scratch and dent easily and these surface scratches cannot be repaired. Please handle with care.   

Store MF products in a cool dry place to maintain leather and avoid tarnishing of hardware.

Avoid wetting the leather.  Should your product get wet, remove any water immediately with a paper towel or soft cloth and allow it to dry naturally.  Damage may occur. 

All leather goods are finished with a protective cream sealant that may be polished/buffed with a soft cloth. Revitalize your leather goods by applying a light coat of clear shoe polish to the leather surface. Buff to add shine.  

It is not recommended to use any chemicals/cleaning products or liquids on the surface. 

Please note that our leather is hand-dyed and may transfer to light coloured fabrics. Each hide is unique and as a result, leather colouring will vary from product to product.
